Food is necassary for life, no one can argue that, but if you ask people what aresome of the food memories they have they would probebly tell you a story aboutgrandmothers cooking or a holiday tradtion of some kind or even a favotrite restraunte. I don't relatae to food that way, of course thats not to say i dont have fond memories of grandmothers house or some of the awsome meals my father cooks. I relate to food out of necessity. I relate to food as a tool, energy consumption. I eat on average twice aday and of those tweo times only one is usually a full meal. Even thjough my eating is out of necessity it is most certainly not a a well planned diet. Its more of a haphazard balancing act between my current activities, known future activities and how i feel at the moment.
My current activities and general pattern latley involse things of a college student. While most people think of college as a party the reality(at least for me) is late nights and early morning and coffee is just the thing that solve my energy problems. A meduim roast coffee bean brewed fresh with a pinch of sugar and im on my way. Coffee only goes so far though and then comes the shakes which is easily fixed with a lunch of some sort. I say of some sort because yesterday i ate chicken salad, nothing else, just the chicken salad. Thats usually how it has been going lately for a lunch, something quick and then im onto other things. Dinner that night was a real meal though, a classic, steak and potaoes with cheesy vegetables. Thats an exapmle of my current eating habits but it hasnt always been this erratic.
-High school cross country running....where i fisrt starting eating with a purpose...spaghetti nights with cross country team before races.
-Army Basic training/ heat of Ft. Benning, Georgia/ Caffeteria...no soda...big meal/ MRE's/ tricks learned...crackers...."cake"...gatorade before sleep...candy on ruck marches/ how these teqniques carried over to iraq...rehydrating salts...hot...cold...mixed with gatorade powder.
-Gym... low fat diets Diet...eating three complete meals...supplemements....high protien...vitamins
-Summary- Like i said before I have the memories of my grandmothers cooking at the holiday dinners and the unique meals my father makes and the amazing restrauntes ive been toop in foriegn countries but what stands out most in my memery is the ways i use food to reach what ever goals i may be trying to acheive.
